Otters may be encountered on development sites that affect or are near watercourses. They may also be present on sites designated for nature conservation. Therefore, it is important that ecologists and conservationists know how to survey for them, recognise their field signs, and have a good understanding of their ecology.
This introductory course includes our Online Otter Ecology and Surveying course and an in-person field trip to Otterton, Devon. You must complete the online part BEFORE the field course.
Parts of this course involve walking over uneven terrain. Sturdy, supportive walking footwear is essential, and a reasonable level of fitness is recommended to ensure you can participate safely and comfortably.
