Beavers are living in various parts of the UK now and they are transforming rivers. This biodiversity champion is on it’s way to becoming widely accepted as a British wildlife species. Now is the time to find out more about them as Beaver experts will be needed across the country. They have already gained protected species status in Scotland and it is only a matter of time before they are protected in England and Wales.
The course will include our Online Beaver Ecology and Surveying course and an in person field trip to Otterton, Devon, home of one of Britain’s only wild beaver populations. You need to complete the online part BEFORE the field course.

- Conservation
- How beavers help the landscape
- Legislation
- Surveying
Instructions to enrol on your online modules will be provided within your course once purchased!
In the field:
The course will be held at Otterton Village Hall, Otterton, Devon. Joining Instructions, Directions and nearby Accommodation information can be found and downloaded within your courses once purchased.
The course will begin at 2:00pm and finish at 5:00pm. There will also be an optional Beaver walk in the evening just before sunset, with time in between for dinner at the pubs if you want to attend.
Why not book on the Otter Ecology and Surveying course at the same time? Both field courses take place on the same day and place.
Booking for another person?
If you are purchasing a course/s on behalf of another person, please follow these steps to ensure they can access their course/s:
- Add course/s to your basket.
- At checkout, if you can use the students email address when booking, please do so.
- Leave us a note in the ‘additional information’ box to let us know it was purchased for another person, please include their full name and email address.
If you do not provide this here or email us with this information, the student will not have access to their course/s.
Booking for multiple people?
If you are purchasing courses on behalf of multiple other people, follow these steps to ensure they can access their course/s:
- Add the correct number of courses for all the students you are purchasing for. (example: If three people need to take Mammal ID, add it to basket three times)
