This introductory level course will greatly enhance your understanding of reptile surveys and give you confidence in handling reptiles. The course is especially relevant to consultancy as a huge proportion of consultancy work during the summer months involves reptile surveying and translocation projects.

During this one day course you will:

  • Learn to identify UK reptile species.
  • Learn best practice in handling of reptiles (including slow worms and non-native snakes).**
  • Carry out a field survey for reptiles.
  • Learn about surveying and mitigation strategies.

The course is part classroom and part field based. Please note that during the course, you will be required to walk up to 3 km on uneven ground, so please be sure that you are capable of this before booking.

**There is no guaranteed handling on this course.**

“Another excellent (value-for-money) course, which gave me a better understanding of reptiles and the methodologies used in their survey”

“Very good course. I have learned some important things about surveying techniques. Thank you.”
