Grass ID is a self-study course aimed at anyone new to studying this fascinating group of plants. During the course, we will concentrate on the principles of grass identification. By the end of the course you will have learned the key identification features to look out for and recognise the main grass families. You will be able to identify a range of different grass species by the end of the course. This is an excellent skill for any ecologist or conservationist involved in habitat mapping.
This course gives you the opportunity to practice your identification skills by building up a collection of specimens with notes to consolidate your learning and help you continue learning on your own.
This course can only be undertaken between May and September when flowering grasses are available. If you book at another time of the year, the course materials will be sent to you in early May.
• Grass structure, terminology and features commonly used for ID
