This is an introductory online course on reptile and Amphibian ID and surveying. We take you through how to identify all species of Amphibians and Reptiles native to the UK. Together, we will cover their physical appearance and identifying features, their ecology and distribution, and their legal protection in the UK. We also look at the survey techniques used for different reptiles and amphibians, and how to plan an effective survey.

Who is the course aimed at?

Course format: The course is in the form of slides containing text, illustrations and photographs with links to texts. At the end there will be a short quiz and if you get over 70% you will receive a Certificate.
Time commitment: This 3 module short course is expected to take around 4-5 hours to complete. There is no specific time limit for completing the course, but you will not receive a certificate until you have submitted your quiz answers. You will have access to the material for 6 weeks.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course you will be proficient at reptile and amphibian ID on all native species and also know about their distribution and ecology, legal protection, as well as survey techniques.

A good course to learn about Reptiles and Amphibians in the UK, I really enjoy Sue’s teaching style, it’s fun and she really believes and champions her students, thanks Sue.
