Our 'Survey Techniques for Protected Species' self-study course gives an introduction into a range of species ecology and survey techniques, as well as legislation, relevant to both conservation and consultancy.
This course comprises 4 videos:
1. Wildlife legislation and Protected Species – in this video you will learn about protected species in general, legislation, and focuses on the ecology and surveying of badgers, great crested newts and water voles. Playing time: 1hr 6 mins.
2. Surveying for Protected Species Video 2 - Dormice and Otters - in this video you will learn about the ecology and surveying of dormice and otters. Playing time: 1hr 17 mins
3. Surveying for Protected Species Video 2 - Reptiles and Bats. In this video you will learn about the ecology and surveying for reptiles and bats. Playing time: 1hr 17 mins
4. Animal Tracks and Signs - our tutor takes you through how to identify a range of droppings, feeding signs, nests, tracks and more. There is a separate picture quiz for this final video. Playing time 41 mins.

This is a self-study course and you will be provided with the URL's for the videos and two quizzes - one on tracks and signs and an end of course quiz covering all the material on the course. Your quizzes will be marked and a Certificate issued if you get over 70%.
